Joola Life Open in Atlanta, GA

Mar 8th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story

Five members were able to make it to the Joola Life Open, a 4-star tournament not associated with college table tennis.  The members who were able to attend were the following: Tyler Brady, Maria Montano, Jonathan Campbell, Thomas Laudisi, and Coach Herb Bennett.  Despite not having many practices during the summer, the Eagles played well.

Coach Herb displayed his years of experience in his top spot in the U-1550 event, having conquered in so many matches in a row. Montano served as coach for the most part.  Tyler Brady played many narrow-margined matches in his division.  Despite not winningany events, Campbell and Laudisi had the opportunity of playing in the U-22 event — an event known for it’s stiff competition.

The other players in the tournament served as great practice for the team as there were several tough players.  One such player was a talented 16-year-old, Chance Friend, who is a 2410-rated player. Needless to say, the Joola Life Open served as a learning tool for the Golden Eagles’ upcoming season. The team has suffered the loss of graduating players, Marc Brana, Philip Sawin, Tyler Brady, and Daniel Vincent, who will be missed.
